February’s Centered on Taipei magazine: design and bagels

The February edition of Centered on Taipei magazine is now out.  And I am excited that in this edition, there are not one but two Taiwanxifu articles.

First is an article about shopping as part of the Ask Taiwanxifu series.  Specifically it provides advice on where to find stylish gifts by local designers — see pages 15 and 16 for some ideas.  I enjoyed picking the brains of talented writer and art lover Catherine Shu, author of the award winning Shuflies blog, on this article.  And also including some stylistic photos by keen photographer Kristen Robinson.

Then page 29 has a review of a funky and innovative restaurant that showcases Taiwanese cuisine and design — and serves great bagels.  Good Cho’s in Tienmu, the second Good Cho’s to open in Taipei — is quirky, relaxing and a great place to catch up with friends for a lingering lunch or coffee.

Taiwan, and especially Taipei, is full of exciting and unexpected finds.  I hope you enjoy reading about some of the places I have discovered.

About taiwanxifu

‘Taiwanxifu’ (pronounced ‘shee foo’) means ‘Taiwan daughter-in-law’ in Chinese and has been my nickname ever since I married my Taiwanese husband, Sam. I love sampling Taiwanese food, even local specialties such as stinky tofu, pigs blood cake and Taipei beef noodle soup with offal. But there are many other options on the menu. Promise!
