It is on again: save the date of 21 June. A year ago I shared the secret treasure trove that lies within the Salvation Army Charity Bazaar. You never know what you will find. But I always find a lot, and it is always a bargain. And the good thing is that you know that the money you spend is going to a good cause. So you can spend sin free, right?
The Salvation Army’s Central Corps, across the road from the Far Eastern’s Shangri-la Hotel, opens its doors once every six months for its charity bazaar. In the absence of a Salvo’s run op-shop, this is the next best thing. There are plenty of second-hand clothes (including Western styles/sizes), books (Chinese and English), kitchen bric-a-brac and toys to keep you hunting for hours. The ladies of the congregation also sell other items, including luxurious hand-made soaps (above), and handmade craft such as these cute key holders. Their cakes and snack foods are pretty good, too.
If you are in the neighbourhood, drop by and check out the bargains. Or stop by and say hello to the lovely Major Rebecca.
